I recently attended a hen party in Devon. I felt obliged to blog about it as it is so very rare to find caterers that cater for very specific dietary needs. Within our hen party we had dairy free, vegetarian, gluten free and  a whole host of allergies to boot!

Following a day of superbly organised activities by the chief bridesmaids we were told to 'dress for dinner' without any clue as to the culinary delights that awaited us. We all arrived 'as per instructed' for canapes on the lawn, superbly served by our very own 'Butler in the buff'. ' 

'Steve James fine dining'  clearly has a passion for exciting flavour combinations. They use seasonal produce and we were all blown away by the attention to detail. You know the food that looks so pretty you almost don't want to eat it, then you do and it tastes as good as it looks - yeah that!!!! exquisitely presented and tasted devine.

  • Canapés

    Butternut squash veloute with oat crème fraiche, pumpkin seeds, pumpkin seed oil and parsley crisp

    Sweet potato and carrot spiced fritter with nut free pesto

    Squid ink tapioca crisp with smoked mackerel, beetroot hummus, borage flower and fennel

    Caraway crisp topped with tomato chutney, heritage tomatoes, basil and pickled cucumber

    Main

    Cider marinated pork belly with thyme roasted carrots, green beans, gremolata and cider sauce

    Vegetarian Main

    Moroccan butternut squash filo pie with hummus, dukkah, harissa spiced yoghurt and broad bean, asparagus and rocket salad

    Dessert

    Dairy free vanilla panna cotta with a toffee popcorn crumb and a Khalua chocolate sauce

One of the main reasons I am blogging about this experience is because I often have people ask me about gluten free, dairy free etc etc. Steve James will tailor the menu to suit your dietary needs and your chocolate desires. I am already planning a dinner party and I know who will be at the top of my list for catering............
